Chapter One: Introduction
1.1 Background of the Study
The evaluation of corporate events has become an essential practice for understanding their effectiveness, outcomes, and impact on stakeholders. Questionnaires have emerged as a pivotal tool in this evaluation process, providing structured and quantifiable insights into participants’ perceptions, satisfaction levels, and feedback. In Makurdi LGA, corporate events such as product launches, business summits, and stakeholder meetings play a significant role in driving local economic activities and fostering professional networking. Effective evaluation of these events through questionnaires can aid in identifying strengths, addressing weaknesses, and ensuring continuous improvement. However, challenges such as poor response rates, biased feedback, and inappropriate questionnaire design often compromise the reliability and validity of the findings. This study explores the use of questionnaires as an evaluation tool for corporate events in Makurdi LGA, examining their effectiveness, limitations, and potential improvements.
1.2 Statement of the Problem
Corporate event organizers in Makurdi LGA often rely on anecdotal feedback or informal methods to gauge the success of their events. While questionnaires provide a more structured and data-driven approach, their use is often hindered by issues such as inadequate design, low participant engagement, and limited analytical capacity. Consequently, the insights derived from these questionnaires may fail to reflect the true outcomes of the events. This study seeks to address these challenges by evaluating the effectiveness of questionnaires as a tool for assessing corporate event outcomes, with the aim of identifying best practices and offering recommendations for their improved application in Makurdi LGA.
